Inspiring people

Few times we find examples as inspiring as the one of this charming woman: Carmen Delgado.

I bumped into this video by chance, and I must say I love her story because she demonstrates that when somebody wants something and fights for it, s/he CAN get it.

I deeply admire her story for her never-ending hunger for knowledge:

How to be MORE exposed to the English language.

Students, specially those who have a higher level like B1, B2, C1 and C2, often ask: how can they get more listening exercises, or  what can they do to be more exposed to the English language.

Two ro three years ago I discovered the programme iTunes. Although I don’t have any Apple device, I used it to download podcasts, and actually, I discovered “podcasts” in that programme.

However, later on I learnt this programme is not necessary to download poscasts, specially the ones I am interested (and I highly recommend): the ones done by the BBC.

Podcasts are, according to me, very useful and interenting. They are an mp3 file and you can find a widre range of topics. In the BBC website you can find podscats of 9 different genres (Comedy, Drama, Entertainment, Sports, Music, Learning…).

I particularly like the serie of podcasts 6 Minutes English: and the definition provided by themselves is the following one: “Learn and practise useful English language for everyday situations with the BBC. Your weekly instruction manual for saying or doing something in English is published every Friday. Each programme is six minutes long and contains examples and explanations to help you improve your knowledge of the English language across a wide range of topics.”

You can download the files in mp3 format, keep them in your computer and copy them in your mp3 player. When you commute to work, you will be investing in your English level 😉
